Paris Hilton DUI Arrest Surprises No One
by Kris on 9/7/2006 (0)

The shameful ride home.
Los Angeles, California - Celebrity Paris Hilton was arrested and charged with driving under the influence early Thursday after driving erratically and failing a field sobriety test, police said.

She was spotted shortly after midnight driving more erratic than she normally does in Hollywood and was subsequently pulled over.

"We knew that if we kept officers patrolling the streets, we would eventually get her," said Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Irv Isabella.

As a formality, Hilton was asked to perform a field sobriety test, which she failed, and was arrested and charged with DUI. She was spared the indignity of having to recite the alphabet, something that she would likely struggle with even if sober.

"I almost laughed when I gave her the breathalyzer test," said arresting offices James Martin. "There was no way she was going to pass."

Family and friends of Hilton seemed to share the sentiment that it was "only a matter of time" and felt lucky that no one was killed and nothing was damaged in her latest drunken rampage. In June, Hilton had a fender-bender accident when her Range Rover backed repeatedly into a car in a parking garage after a shopping trip.

Elliot Mintz, Hilton's publicist, stressed that Hilton was not intoxicated. He said she had "had one drink" and hadn't eaten all day. He later admitted that the drink was an "80 ounce long island ice tea" and the number one was more likely "six or seven"."0" style="0" style
