 | Alabama's favorite Prez, and one sexy beast to boot! | | Born in 1706, Benjamin Franklin accomplished many great feats during his 84 years of life. But perhaps his greatest accomplishment has come in August of 2005, when the state of Alabama voted him their all-time favorite President of the United States. Voting concluded just a week ago and Franklin easily distanced himself from other popular Presidents such as George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and William Taft. In total, Franklin received over 70% of the votes. Unpopular President Richard Nixon received just 2% of the vote. "Ben Franklin did many great things in his life," said Alabama native George Neal. "Plus, he's on the Quaker Oats package, you can't say that of any other former President!" Other native Alabamians cited Franklin's invention of electricity, the creation of the $100 bill in his likeness, the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and his invention of the PlayStation 2 as reason for giving Franklin their vote. Franklin's popularity may also stem from his numerous often whimsical but still true quotes, such as "a penny saved is a penny earned," "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure," and "I'd love to stay and chat, but you're a total bitch". Franklin's remaining living relatives are slated to receive the award, which also includes a $25 Gift Certificate for Steak & Shake, in his honor at a presentation ceremony Sunday. His relatives are reportedly "very proud of this accomplishment" but also "saddened by the news of Benjamin's death".
