 | I am stoneage!!! YEAHH!! | | (AP) In the most controversial twist on the ethics of cloning to date, thrash rocker/master bow hunter Ted Nugent plans to use his millions of Rock-and-Roll dollars to clone, and then hunt, a Wooly Mammoth
Nugent idly wet-sharpened an oversize broad-head arrow tip, and adjusted the cams and gears on his Fred Bear Buckmaster compound bow
"The Mammoth is the hunters dream, man! In conjunction with IMCLONE, I hope to fund the world's first living Mastodon specimen the earth has seen in over 10,000 years! We got some great samples of Mastodon flesh from a glacier in Siberia. A genetic cross with a modern-day African elephant should produce a Mammoth that has 90 percent of the chromosomes of the original! Awesome man!"
When prodded if cloning an extinct mammal for the sole purpose of hunting it was grossly unethical and a travesty of science, Nugent pshaw-ed
"So is stem-cell research, man! And at least I'll have Mammoth steaks in the freezer for the next 5 years...what's so unethical about that?"
PETA and Greenpeace are reportedly grappling with the notion of protecting extinct mammals, but admits that banning the use of 10,000 year old DNA "Will prove a lot harder than ramming whaling boats and liberating frier chickens" src="h
